The Rural Housing Service helped Sinclair’s Bay Community Council to conduct a housing needs survey in the village. This showed that many families were living in overcrowded council houses. The lack of larger council houses in the village meant that to get a house the correct size would mean leaving the village to live in Wick or Thurso. As a result of the survey and discussions with the Council extensions were built on the houses of families who were overcrowded.
